Internships - SparkPoint Studio

SparkPoint Studio’s internship program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the areas of public relations, branding, social media, content creation, digital marketing and hybrid publishing.

Internships are available each semester for all of our departments—PR, digital and publishing. The internship is unpaid, but students are able to obtain college credit. Work hours are flexible to accommodate school schedules, and typically interns are in the office at least three days per week.

PR/Publicity Internship

Description

BookSparks offers professional publicity expertise and services to debut and bestselling book authors, executing publicity campaigns to the full spectrum of media: from national to local media, from magazines and newspapers to radio, TV, and digital outlets.

Interns will assist publicists with various campaign needs including the creation of customized pitches, content and media lists.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidates will be seeking a degree in journalism, PR or marketing with previous internship experience in a PR agency or full-service marketing agency environment. A passion for PR is required and a love of books is a plus. Strong writing, editing and communication skills are a must!

Digital/Social Media Internship

Description

Everyday we work with bestselling authors, major publishers, national media, bloggers and influencers in lifestyle, travel, fashion, beauty, arts, culture and entertainment. We’re focused on sparking conversations about books and authors in fun, fresh ways: merging traditional book publicity with the rapidly evolving, new, and vast ways to promote online and through social media.

We are always looking for social media and digital marketing interns to help create dynamic digital campaigns including custom photography, Facebook advertising, social media strategy, newsletter creation and more.

Experience and Skills

Social/Digital marketing is a large part of our company and you will gain hands-on experience with social media, branding, content, planning and executing. We are particularly interested in anyone with a love for social media, great photography skills and style are a plus! Must be a seasoned multi-tasker and media maven. Our focus is female-driven campaigns, and our brand is fun and fearless.

Editorial Internship

Description

SheReads is dedicated to helping readers find their next great book. We create and publish daily content such as exclusive author interviews, cover reveals, book-to-screen news, and roundups recommending books based on genre, pop culture, lifestyle, and geography, with an emphasis on underrepresented voices and supporting indie bookstores. SheReads.com has surpassed 3 million readers/200k visitors a month, sparking conversations about books and authors in fun, fresh ways.

We are always looking for interns with excellent writing skills to help support the consistency of our brand, write and format articles each week, pitch editorial content, and even assist with She Reads social media.

Experience and Skills

As an editorial website, content creation and entry is a large part of internships She Reads, and as an intern you will gain hands-on experience with writing book-based content as a named contributor, working in WordPress to add and format articles, editorial schedules, social media, and basic search engine optimization. Fantastic writing skills are a must! We are particularly interested in anyone with experience writing bookish roundups/content (please view SheReads.com to check out our tone and style) and meticulous proofreading skills. Bonus points if you’re experienced in WordPress! Please submit writing samples with your resume and cover letter.
