Awards season is in full swing and most of us are guilty of going absolutely “ga-ga” over those fabulous red carpet gowns and dreaming of being Leo’s model-worthy date. For some of us, this fantasy will remain just that – an epic daydream. But luckily for a few of us at SparkPoint, dreams do come true!
So allow us to present to you our very own amateur documentary:
5 Lessons for the Red Carpet Novice
Like any Oscar nominated movie, we must first set the scene.
Three SparkBabes fly to California from Phoenix for a fun Red Carpet event to honor the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio. Upon landing, we head straight to brunch with our lovely client responsible for this adventure, Alane Adams. Toting large handbags and even larger sunglasses, we all head to a dry bar to have hair and makeup done for the fabulous evening ahead.
Lesson 1: Say Yes to Being Pampered – if someone is willing to take you to a beauty salon…let them.
Lesson 2: Arrive Early – those appetizers were made for movie stars… you may never taste anything that good in your life again!
After a mini hotel room fashion show and the trust-worthy opinions of girlfriends, our Sparks decided on their “red-carpet” ready dresses and headed to the coveted SAG Foundation’s 30th Anniversary and Gala Fundraiser at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. Being the shameless “young Carrie Bradshaw” women they are, they make sure to arrive early to devour the appetizers and take part in the open bar.
Lesson 3: It’s okay to be that crazy fan-girl – I mean who stays calm when they see their celeb crush? No one.
Carrying their champagne flutes with freshly manicured nails, our Sparks walked into a star studded event us wine-drinking, yoga pant-wearing viewers at home could only dream of. Yet as much as they tried to remain calm, one of our Sparks, Janay, still could not keep her serious “fan-girling” squeals under control as she obsessed over Black-ish star, Miles Brown, and Empire star, Jussie Smollett. We like to think it was just the “social media manager” in her that led to these epic pictures. We also had major fan girl moments over Bellamy Young, Abigail Spencer, Mark Ruffalo and more!
Lesson 4: Leo is just as gorg in person – and genuine, and kind…we’re still debating if he’s actually human.
Not only were our Sparks 5 rows behind Leo in a small theater, they watched the Titanic heartthrob accept his award and heard his silky smooth voice in person…ugh, swoon. He thanked his parents, talked about his environmental passion and was equal parts gorgeous and generous.
Lesson 5: Always share gratitude with your client – you didn’t have to put on an Oscar worthy performance to attend, you just had to look good, so give thanks!
Before we let the credits roll on this award-winning documentary, we would like to thank our incredible client Alane Adams who made all of this possible. We will never forget this spectacular night and are so grateful!
